What do people do with Steelhead? Are they good to eat? How are they prepared?
Posted by admin
I am new to the Steelhead Fishing world and I have some lingering questions. Fill me in yall!
just like you do with any trout….
any suggestions on how to dye shrimp for salmon fishing purposes?
Posted by admin
what is the best dye brand to use and where can I purchase it?
why use dyed shrimp.that is the attitude of someone who cant get to grips with the gentlemanly art of fly fishing.no self respecting angler would stoop so low as to use flesh-bait when fishing for salmon.learn to tie your own flies and you will get much more enjoyment out of every catch you make.
Where’s the best place to go fishing for trout in Southern California?

I’m new to the sport of fishing and really enjoy stream fishing for trout in particular, but as I understand it, stream fishing is more common in the central and northern region of the state. I’d appreciate any information on some great hot spots in the south.
probably the best is under the big bear damn on the santa ana river. It is a natural brown trout area in the state so it’s two fish limit on single barbless hooks but the fish and game stocks the river with rainbows always during the cold months and they end up down stream almost all the way down to the flat lands. Santiago creek dumps the triploids over the top when rains fill Irvine lake too high but in almost every newspaper on thursdays is the fishing page and it always tells where fish and game have stocked during the week including park lakes all over so cal. a few of my favorite park lakes are mile square park, central park in Hunt Beach (Carr park in H B too), Centennial Park in Downey and El Dorado Park in Long Beach. In san diego county even more south are many lakes wohlford, dixon, hodges lakes are my favorites and Wohlford is my most productive #1. There are great lakes stocked during the winter all over so cal so pick up a copy of Western Outdoor News (it is a weekly fishing newspaper that each week it show cases another top producing lake somewhere from mexico north to Shasta and covers the sierras, baja, fresh and saltwater fishing as well.
When do I go fishing to catch the most fish. Tweed River area would be great!?

I’m going houseboating on the Tweed River in March 08, don’t know much about fishing so I just want to know what the best time is to go fishing, what bait to use and any other helpful hints!
Tweed River, QLD Australia.
What fish can I expect to find, what bait to use and best time to fish?
The Licence come’s with the houseboat ![]()
First of all you do know you need to buy a license, after that a light rod with about 8lb mono-filament will do and a simple bobber rig with a size 8 hook then give lots of different baits a try, and most times of day will be good for fishing.

Gilligan’s Guide Service – Fly Fishing the Truckee River

Spent a day fishing with my buddy (and Truckee River Fly Fishing Guide), Matt “Gilligan” Koles. He knows this water like no other and can stick some serious fish.
We fished a few different methods this day in early April and all were pretty productive. Nymphed with a switch rod, stuck a nice fish on a dry, and Gil even hooked a few using a hopper/dropper method.
If you’re looking for a fun day of fishing and you find yourself around Tahoe give him a shout.

I saw a fishing show where they were catching brown trout and steelhead right by some piers in Milwaukee?
Posted by admin
Does anyone know where they were? Or where you can have luck catching trout and salmon from a pier or harbor?
Dan,
The pier is located at the Mc Kinley Marina, but you can also fish the lake from the shore, Try fishing behind the Summerfest grounds (Hoan bridge and Marcus Amphitheater) and behind the MMSD (near the post office dowtown.) Usually you will see people fishing if there are fish present. Try using 6 or 8lb test with a golden shiner, blue and silver little cleo or a chartreuse shad rap (small size) Have fun.
What type of Fishing rod and reel would be good for salmon fishing, but could use it for general fishing?

I am looking a ugly sticks and i think i am going for a MH rod, but i fish in fresh water so i would need a fresh water ugly stick. i just want something good for salmon but i could use everyday
A 6′6" two piece (travels well in overhead bin) Shakespeare Ugly Stik with a 7500 Penn spinning reel is a combination that has worked well for me for both freshwater fishing in Lake Wilson, Oahu, Hawaii, and in five-specie Pacific wild Salmon Fishing in Alaskan waters.
