what size rooster tail should I use for trout fishing in streams?
Posted by Admin
I trout fish streams in Pennsylvania. Should the size of the rooster tail depend on the size and depth of the stream or river?
Stream 1/32/, 1/16, to 1/8 and as for the rivers I’d go with somethin’ a bit larger say 1/4 to 3/8 depending on the current/water flows. Personally when it comes to Inline spinners for trout I go with either Panther Martin and or Blue Fox <);-3
Pamther Martin:

Blue Fox:

Note: Size will also be dictated by what size/type species your fishin’ for and again the currents of both stream and rivers. Also bout’ the best knot for them Inline spinners be a’ Palomar (link) tied directly to eye of spinner. Be my personal fav but, there’s times when I’ll go with the Clinch knot…

What color line for fishing trout?
Posted by Admin
I am going trout fishing in a clear stream next weekend. With that being said what is the best color line for fishing trout? I have 2 4lb lines, green clear line and a red clear line. Which one is best?
I have heard good things and bad things about red fishing line. Should I swap it out for the greenish line?
Thank you.
With you only havin’ two lines ta’ work with, for trout the greenish clear would be your best bet. Only red line I’ve tried is Cajun and in my personal opinion, that stuff is as useful as P _ _ S on a’ dead ‘Opossum aka Possum. When I rig for trout, majority of times a leader is used ~ again personal opinion <);-3
Note: With Trout the better color would be leaning towards the clear ie., natives (trout that are maturing and have been in the waters for a’ spell) are more likely to see the line then say planted/stocked (hatchery) ones and I guarantee the natives will stay clear of it…

Fly Fishing for Trout and Salmon at Alaska West
Posted by Admin
Simms Fishing Presents:
Alaska West, an operation run by Deneki Outdoors, was the location we chose for our first-ever Simms Film. The guides at Alaska West literally live in their waders and are the most formidable testers of Simms products that weve come across. They count on Simms to keep them dry and comfortable on and off the water in the toughest conditions day in and day out. All of the people featured in the Alaska West film are not actors they are actual guides. All of them live at the camp for almost 5 months.
