Safety
At New River Fishing, safety is our first concern on the river. As in every sport, there is risk involved in river fishing. Every year, thousands of visitors go fishing on the New without incident. Experienced guides, state-of-the-art equipment and proven safety techniques are all part of the reason. But the No. 1 factor insuring a safe trip down the river is your cooperation and participation in safe boating, be it raft or boat or canoe..
Although our guides are extremely experienced, your responsibility is to listen to your guide and follow instructions as you travel on the river.
New River Fishing commitment to safety is also reflected in our up-to-date equipment. Our fully self-bailing rafts are river-tested to be responsive and dependable throughout your trip. Our personal floatation devices are top-of-the-line. And our transportation to and from the river is safe and reliable.
We'll work with you to accommodate any special needs or concerns you may have. Be sure to let your guide know of any pertinent medical conditions you or other members of your party might have. Likewise, let us know if you require any special medications or have any allergies that might pose a problem.
Smoking is allowed OUT of our vessels only. If you as a client desire to light up, let your guide know, and he will stop the raft or boat in a suitable and safe area for you to smoke. You must realize the raft is constructed of a vinyl based material, and can be damaged by fire. Extra charge for broken rods, lost lures, or boat or raft damage by clients.
Finally, if there are any concerns of any type, please let us know. Working together, we can customize your trip to your abilities, needs and wishes.
Catch & Release
We advocate total catch, photo and release of all fish of all species. Below Claytor Dam to the West Virginia state line, there is a slot limit on smallmouth of 14"-20". Five smallmouth per day creel limit. One fish over twenty inches allowed. However, to preserve the resource for future anglers, none will be kept on our floats. Photos and measurements will be taken for the angler to use in a replica mount.
Liability
All precautions are taken by New River Fishing to insure a safe and enjoyable trip. We do not assume responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or bodily injury. You will be required to sign an "assumption of personal responsibility" release form before taking any of our trips. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them. You will be responsible for any personal property you bring along. We feel the physical demands of our trips are well within the range of the average person, however, those with a specific medical problem, such as heart disease or epilepsy, may wish to consult their physician regarding their participation in this sort of activity. No drugs or alcohol will be allowed on any of our trips. We reserve the right to refuse passage to anyone appearing intoxicated.

Cancellation Policies
We require a one day deposit
(Monday thru Thursday-$325; Friday
thru Sunday-Holidays$350) on all reserved trips. Cancellations
fourteen (14) days prior to your reservation date entitle you to a full refund
minus a 25% processing fee.
NO REFUNDS
are made for cancellations with
less than fourteen days notice. If the client has made a one day
(Monday thru Thursday-$325; Friday
thru Sunday-Holidays$350) deposit, has not
canceled, and the day of the trip is a no-show, the remaining 50% will be billed.
Sorry, Please inform all of your group members of this
policy. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to water conditions. All trips
go rain or shine, as long as safety is observed.
A point of concern with our clients is the use of their private vehicles being used in the shuttles. This must be expected in order for our service to work. It usually consists of no more than 25 miles, round trip total. Thanks for your understanding.
