Niagara River Steelhead Fishing
Posted by admin
Few would argue the Niagara River has some of the largest steelhead in the Northeast and Pautzke Director of Operations Chris Shaffer wasn’t disappointed when he flew back east for a chance to fish the river with Team Pautzke pro staffers Frank Campbell of Niagara River Charter Service and Ted Kessler of River Master Fishing Charters. In spite of 30mph winds coming out of the north, Campbell and Kessler meandered through the temperatures in the low teens (with the wind chill) and overcame a mile long run by this 18-pound steelhead! The steelhead was hooked near Devil’s Hole and battled through rapids, rough water and nearly spooked them prior to being caught and released alive. For those who aren’t aware, the Niagara River makes up the US/Canada border between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie and offers exceptional brown trout and Steelhead Fishing, particularly when using Pautzke Borx o Fire cured roe and spawn sacks!
