The New River is pre-dated in geological history only by the Nile River. The Appalachian Mountains were formed around this scenic river, raising it to higher elevations. It begins as a spring near Blowing Rock Country Club in North Carolina and winds in a northerly direction flowing through North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. It is a scenic river that is home to plants, fish and wildlife that are considered endangered and quite rare. Bald eagles, osprey, snowy egrets, minks, otters, and many other species are frequently sighted. Here you will find smallmouth bass, muskie, walleyes, rock bass, flathead and channel catfish.
